Larry Ulrich
Jr.
LA MARQUE, TX
Growing up in La Marque,
Texas, Larry Ulrich dreamed early on of acting, asking his mother to let him become an actor when he was just three years
old. Growing up, his mother would make up commercial scripts so Larry could develop the ability and love for acting. In 1998,
Larry graduated from La Marque High School with honors. Later, he headed to Huston-Tillotson College to pursue a Bachelor's
of Arts degree in Public Affairs. During his time at Huston-Tillotson College, Larry earned an extra role in the Blockbuster
Hit Movie "The Life of David Gale" starring Kevin Spacey and Kate Winslet. After graduating from Huston-Tillotson College,
he attended Howard University in Washington, D.C attempting to pursue a Masters of Fine Arts in Film Production. There he
learned the basis of field production, screenwriting, and cinematography. Ulrich began to produce and edit certain projects
such as documentaries and music videos. Project after project, production after production, Ulrich still had the desire and
love for being in front of the camera. So he then decided to pursue his life long dream; acting. Larry began to network through
Howard University's acting department to find a private acting coach. He then discovered an acting coach name Vera Katz who
was famous for coaching the talented Felicia Reshad and Debbie Allen. After the session had ended, Ulrich then landed a major
role in a student film titled "Room for Four”.” There were about 80 males going out for the four male roles,"
Ulrich stated.” But thanks to GOD, I was blessed out of all of those people to receive one of the four roles.”
As the semester was coming to an end, Ulrich decided to apply for an internship with his favorite reality show, MTV's "The
Real World”.” The Real World" had received hundreds of applications for interns in which only twelve positions
had to be filled. With the grace of GOD, Ulrich was not only one of the twelve, but the only African American intern to assist
and produce "The Real World: San Diego", "The Simple Life", and "The Gauntlet: Real World Road Rules Challenge.” After
the internship program had ended, Ulrich decided to enter The Real World by returning home to follow his dream. Because acting
jobs were scarce in the Houston area, Ulrich had to make a way of life. He then turned back and contacted his Alma Mater Huston-Tillotson
College. There at Huston-Tillotson College, Ulrich became a Recruiter and Director of Student Activities for new and transfer
students. After consistent prayer, Larry knew his timing was just about right. He then enrolled in Austin's number one acting
school "The State Theatre School of Acting.” There Ulrich received tons of exposure for his acting abilities. Also,
Ulrich joined church at Greater Mount Zion to ensure that GOD will guide him through a positive journey as he grows into his
acting career. Larry Ulrich is an icon for young African Americans who plan on pursuing a career in acting. His motto in life
"What you plant now will harvest later", meaning the hard work, the stress, the dedication, and the commitment you make right
here right now toward your dream, will later grow and sprout into a major and powerful fulfilling endeavor.
